The Recording Academy

The 2,550 square foot office for the Recording Academy of Memphis underwent an infill project in the South Main Historic Arts District. A translucent plane splits the long thin space into an office zone and a gallery zone, which is used as a temporary art exhibit space during the monthly “Trolley Night” street festival. As with many projects, cost was a major factor that had to be taken into consideration while making design decisions. Much of the material used throughout the project was reclaimed, and the final cost per square foot was $17.
