Memphis Redbirds Baseball Emporium

A retail space that plays off of the over-sized elements of the existing building, while reinforcing the heroic nature of baseball.

The project is on the ground floor of a historic eight story building, which is adjacent to a newly constructed AAA baseball stadium. The 36” diameter concrete columns are the key organizing elements. They establish a north/south axis that aligns with the south facing entrance doors.  The columns highlighted and left unobstructed to symbolize the heroic and larger than life persona that fans relate to in their sports heroes. The sculptural forms create visual movement through the space while focusing the fan’s eye on the idealized sports hero, the baseball figure depicted in the mural.
