Felipe Vera, Assoc. AIA, NOMA
Mississippi State University / Bachelor of Architecture
In constant pursuit of impactful spaces and moving stories, Felipe Vera is a first-generation college graduate of Mississippi State University. As a Mexican American aspiring architect, he recalls his first interactions of architecture being in the cities of Mexico while visiting his late grandparents. During his studies, Felipe served with Freedom By Design, the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS), and the student publication BARNworks. Felipe worked with the Carl Small Town Center where he learned the importance of community-based design as well as economic and sustainable development.
After completing his studies, he spent time in Huntsville Alabama fostering conversations regarding Design, Space, and Progressive Governmental Relations. Being immersed in the community by serving on Design Week Huntsville and Leadership Greater Huntsville, he plans to take lessons learned from living in the recently voted #1 place to live as he continues his professional career in Memphis. His experience includes a diverse range of projects including The Von Braun Convention Center, The Orion Amphitheater and Lincoln Mill in addition to other adaptive reuse projects.
His passion for architecture is enriched through the intersection of storytelling and film where he is consciously aware of the cultural and societal impact of architecture. When not practicing architecture, he can be found with a camera in his hand documenting the built environment throughout his travels or slowing and reflecting while spending time on his family’s farm.
