Christian Brothers University - St. Joseph Building Renovation
The St. Joseph Hall Renovation revives and retools a mid-20th-century engineering lab building located in the center of the University’s campus. The building has been renovated incrementally over decades and currently serves several functions, including campus post office, receiving dock, IT department office, computer labs, campus police office, and a large shared classroom. The project consolidates the IT department, creates a new collaborative campus classroom, and creates a student lounge that operates as a student services ‘one-stop-shop’ and a front door for the campus admissions department. The interior spaces, particularly the classroom and lounge, have enhanced connections to two campus spaces: an existing quad and a new quad formed by converting a parking lot to a shared campus space.
The renovations act to strengthen campus connectivity, increase program density, and enhance transparency of spaces dedicated to student interaction.
